Those Chi-Town Kids Can ROCK!!

First up: Tina Maria Howell with the Fellas backing her up on a little Led Zeppelin tune called "Dazed and Confused". Maybe you've heard of it?? :-) Tina Howell got her start on the poetry scene in Chicago and transitioned smoothly into other genres, finally creating a unique blend of soul, garage and rock that will BLOW YOUR MIND! I love when the ladies prove that gender has no bearing on genre! ROCK ON!!

At the ART of the matter...

...there is passion. No matter what form art takes, when given the proper venue for expression, it can stimulate emotion, inspire a mind, fuel debates, or allow people to form a consensus. It is the latter which sparked this very blog. It seems that a consensus has been reached that there is no viability in underground artistic expression.  No one seems to have told the artists, however and they are still on the move, dancing, painting, singing and performing in the shadows of the "big" names we all see in the media everyday. It is my design that by reaching out to you each week, we will collectively shine light into those shadows, exposing the undiscovered beauty and depth to be found from underground artists across Chicago and the globe.

Each week I will spotlight a few of my faves and recent discoveries so that you too may become a fan and seeker of the artistic heat that thrives in the underground. I encourage you to keep me posted on any old favorites or new discoveries that you may have so that we can keep these wheels rolling and the underground movement thriving. Since this is a forum for free expression, feel free to comment as you see fit. Drop me a link, email a video clip, post your thoughts, but definitely tune in  for the on the verge dancers, musicians, artists, videographers, painters, spoken word artists and more, whom  you're sure to hear about later! After all, right now they're tomorrow's notable talent, but today they're simply the best you've never heard of.

Follow me to the underground to see how deep it all goes.
