First up: Tina Maria Howell with the Fellas backing her up on a little Led Zeppelin tune called "Dazed and Confused". Maybe you've heard of it?? :-) Tina Howell got her start on the poetry scene in Chicago and transitioned smoothly into other genres, finally creating a unique blend of soul, garage and rock that will BLOW YOUR MIND! I love when the ladies prove that gender has no bearing on genre! ROCK ON!!

Wow! I can't believe these were actually women playing this way. It reminds me of the group (but with a different swagger) Klymaxx from back in the day.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I did visit Brown Sugar Bakery since I'm in the area every week. The peach cobbler was really, really good!

ReplyDeleteAhh, Klymaxx. They tried to keep it going, even putting out individual projects and alternate groups. If only they had learned to transform their sound the way Tina did, they may still be putting out music!
ReplyDeleteBrown Sugar Bakery is not only great on the desserts (try that pineapple cheesecake or carrot cake), but the proprietor is also very warm and inviting. Be sure to check out any special events she has at the bakery. She allows for intimate film screenings, and acoustic shows at her location, so it serves a dual purpose. Glad you liked it! Tell a friend!!
I am just as unfamiliar with "Dazed and Confused" as I am with the underground group, but definitely familiar with Robert Grant and Led Zeppelin. More along the line of Stairway to Heaven and others.
ReplyDeleteNot to get off the subject, but have you heard of a poet named Strawberry?
ReplyDeleteI do know Strawberry. Erotic poetry, right? I was on the poetry scene before getting involved with music.
